In 2009, I started a blog called Experiments with Truth. Based on Gandhi's autobiography, My Experiments with Truth, I wrote about my adventures in daily living. Each month, I took on a new "experiment" connected to diet or lifestyle. It went like this:
Month One: Vegetarianism
Month Two: Shopping-Free
Month Three: Caffeine-Free
Month Four: No High Heels
Month Five: Gluten-free
Month Six: Pants-Free
Month Seven: Cell phone-Free
Month Eight: Blog-Free
Month Nine: All Things Ayurveda
Month Ten: Chi Running
Month Eleven: Finding Free
Month Twelve: Alcohol Free
Through my exploration, I discovered my passion for Ayurveda and yoga. When a thyroid condition surfaced, I decided to heal myself naturally.
I continued to learn more about nutrition, meditation, herbs and seasonal routines as I cooked, chanted and cared myself back to health. Eventually I found myself at the doors of the Kerala Ayurveda Academy, enrolling in the Ayurveda Wellness Counselor program. All the while, I was still teaching elementary school full time. I've realized that I cherish new opportunities to learn, meet new people and travel. When I can combine those interests, I find heaven. This is why I studied yoga in Bali and Spain, taught abroad in Colombia, studied Ayurveda in India. Who knows where the future will take me!
Now I am so happy to be helping others through Ayurveda and yoga. Like me, my clients are learning to slow down, rest and take charge of their own health. It's a lifelong journey, and I am ready for the ride!
